The 15 Cutest Pokémon Cards Ever Printed

Fifteen cards that are impossible not to like, and the detail they almost all share: none of them sits in a set's regular numbered list.

Stakd Team5 min read
Three cards from the article, fanned out: Clefairy 094/088 in front, Eevee 188/167 and Spheal 199/191 behind.

The cutest Pokémon cards are rarely the strongest ones. They are the cards where a Pokémon is caught doing something small: rolling instead of walking, napping in the grass, sitting on a bed next to a toy.

Fifteen cards, counted down in the order of the carousel this list comes from. Look at the numbers in the bottom corner as you go, because the pattern behind them is the real story.

15. Aurorus, 2026 illustration rare

Aurorus 092/088 illustrated by Masa: a long-necked Aurorus with a pale sail-like frill, standing in a pink and violet snowy haze.
Aurorus 092/088, illus. Masa

Masa painted Aurorus in pink and violet haze, head tilted, so soft that it is easy to miss the flavour text: the crystals on its body expel air as cold as minus 240 degrees Fahrenheit.

A fossil Pokémon that freezes its enemies, drawn as the gentlest thing in the room. That contrast is the first kind of cute on this list.

14. Dedenne, 2026 illustration rare

Dedenne 093/088 illustrated by HYOGONOSUKE: Dedenne sitting on a branch among falling autumn leaves, eyes closed, holding a red berry.
Dedenne 093/088, illus. HYOGONOSUKE

Eyes shut, a berry in its paws, autumn leaves falling all around. HYOGONOSUKE gave Dedenne the whole tree and the whole season, and it does not seem to care about either.

13. Spheal, 2024 illustration rare

Spheal 199/191 illustrated by miki kudo: a group of round blue Spheal rolling and resting on floating ice under a pale sun.
Spheal 199/191, illus. miki kudo

miki kudo drew a whole pod of Spheal on the ice, one rolling, the others dozing. The flavour text explains it: its body is so round that it is faster for Spheal to roll around than to walk.

Cute, here, is a design flaw the Pokémon has learned to live with.

12. Piplup, 2025 illustration rare

Piplup 098/094 illustrated by Jiro Sasumo: Piplup sitting in the snow under an icy overhang, beside a patch of yellow flowers.
Piplup 098/094, illus. Jiro Sasumo

Piplup sits in the snow next to a few yellow flowers, looking at nothing in particular. The flavour text calls it a poor walker that often falls down, whose strong pride makes it puff up its chest without a care.

Clumsy and proud at once. Half of this list runs on that combination.

11. Yamper, 2025 illustration rare

Yamper 099/094 illustrated by tono: Yamper standing on an unmade bed with its tongue out, next to a Poké Ball cushion, in a sunny bedroom.
Yamper 099/094, illus. tono

tono put Yamper on an unmade bed, tongue out, a Poké Ball cushion at its feet and a bookshelf behind. It is the most ordinary room on the list, and that is why it works: it looks like your room.

The flavour text is honest about Yamper: it only helps people with their work because it wants treats.

10. Pikachu, 2023 illustration rare

Pikachu 173/165 illustrated by Hiroyuki Yamamoto: Pikachu crawling across a busy town crosswalk, surrounded by people and Pokémon including Psyduck, Slowpoke, Growlithe and Jigglypuff.
Pikachu 173/165, illus. Hiroyuki Yamamoto

Hiroyuki Yamamoto drew a whole town: a street café, a crosswalk, trainers walking past, Psyduck, Slowpoke, Growlithe and Jigglypuff going about their day. Pikachu is the smallest figure in the middle of it, crawling low across the crossing.

The most famous Pokémon in the world, drawn as one face in a crowd.

9. Jacinthe, 2026 Supporter

Jacinthe 110/088 illustrated by Susumu Maeya: a trainer in a lavender dress and hat, hands raised to her face, smiling on a dimly lit stage.
Jacinthe 110/088, illus. Susumu Maeya

One of two trainers on the list. Susumu Maeya drew Jacinthe in a lavender dress with ruffled sleeves, hands framing her face. The card does one thing: heal 150 damage from one of your Psychic Pokémon.

8. Mew, Crown Zenith Galarian Gallery

Mew GG10/GG70 illustrated by Ryota Murayama: Mew asleep in a forest clearing, surrounded by a ring of Pokémon watching over it.
Mew GG10/GG70, illus. Ryota Murayama

Ryota Murayama put Mew to sleep in the middle of a forest clearing, with a ring of Pokémon standing around it as if keeping watch. The flavour text says its DNA is said to contain the genetic codes of all Pokémon.

The rarest creature in the games, drawn as a cat having a nap.

7. Mega Clefable ex, 2026

Mega Clefable ex 119/088 illustrated by Cona Nitanda: a pink Mega Clefable with large wings, arms raised, in a sparkling pastel sky.
Mega Clefable ex 119/088, illus. Cona Nitanda

A Mega Evolution is supposed to look powerful. Cona Nitanda drew this one with its arms up and its mouth open in a cheer, in a sky full of sparkles. Its attack is called Shooting Moons.

6. Eevee, 2024 illustration rare

Eevee 188/167 illustrated by Narumi Sato: a sunny living room full of Eevee, on a red armchair, by a window, in a basket and on the floor.
Eevee 188/167, illus. Narumi Sato

Narumi Sato filled a living room with Eevee. On the armchair, on the windowsill next to a vase of flowers, in a basket, on the floor. Count them and you lose track before the edge of the card.

The same trick as the Spheal: one cute Pokémon is nice, a crowd of them is a scene.

5. Rosa's Encouragement, 2026 Supporter

Rosa's Encouragement 123/088 illustrated by Iori Suzuki: Rosa smiling with a spoon in hand and a cup of ice cream topped with a Pikachu-shaped scoop, among balloons.
Rosa's Encouragement 123/088, illus. Iori Suzuki

The second trainer, and the only card on the list where the cutest thing is a dessert. Iori Suzuki gave Rosa a cup of ice cream with a Pikachu-shaped scoop on top, and a sky full of balloons behind her.

4. Sylveon EX, Generations Radiant Collection

Sylveon EX RC32/RC32 illustrated by Kanako Eo: Sylveon playing with its ribbons beside a smiling Eevee, in a garden drawn in soft crayon strokes.
Sylveon EX RC32/RC32, illus. Kanako Eo

The oldest card here, from 2016. Kanako Eo drew Sylveon in crayon-soft strokes, playing with its ribbons while an Eevee hugs one of them. Its attacks are called Dress Up and Precious Ribbon.

It is also the only card on the list that shows a Pokémon next to the one it evolves from.

3. Mega Gardevoir ex, 2025

Mega Gardevoir ex 178/132 illustrated by Raita Kazama: Mega Gardevoir in a white gown in front of a stained-glass pattern, with Ralts and Kirlia around her.
Mega Gardevoir ex 178/132, illus. Raita Kazama

Raita Kazama set Mega Gardevoir against a pattern that reads like stained glass, with smaller members of her family around the edges. The attacks are Overflowing Wishes and Mega Symphonia.

Less cute than elegant, which is the point of including it: the list would be monotonous without one card that is dressed for the evening.

2. Wigglytuff, 2025 illustration rare

Wigglytuff 105/094 illustrated by REND: a Wigglytuff with huge eyes on a concert stage, surrounded by a crowd of singing Wigglytuff and music notes.
Wigglytuff 105/094, illus. REND

REND drew a concert where every member of the audience is a Wigglytuff. The attack matches the picture: Round does 40 damage for each of your Pokémon in play that also has Round.

The flavour text adds a warning. Take care not to make it angry, or it may inflate steadily and hit with a body slam.

1. Clefairy, 2026 illustration rare

Clefairy 094/088 illustrated by Cona Nitanda: Clefairy waving from a grassy cliff edge, under pastel pink and blue clouds full of sparkles.
Clefairy 094/088, illus. Cona Nitanda

Cona Nitanda again, and this time with the Pokémon that becomes number seven. Clefairy waves from the edge of a cliff under pink and blue clouds, one arm up, mid-hop.

The flavour text gives it a reason to be up there: the moonlight it stores in its wings apparently lets it float in midair. The attacks are Follow Me and Flop.

Why the cutest cards are never in the main set

Look at the numbers. Thirteen of these fifteen cards carry a number higher than the size of their set: 092/088, 199/191, 173/165, 178/132 and so on. The other two come from special subsets, a Galarian Gallery and a Radiant Collection.

Not one of them is a regular card from a set's main list. Cuteness lives in the illustration rare slots, where the artist gets the whole card, a full scene and a reason to slow down.

The scenes repeat too: a bedroom, a living room, a street crossing, a forest nap. Ordinary places, and a Pokémon doing almost nothing in them.

“A cute card is a Pokémon caught on its day off.”

The same detail in the card number runs through our list of the most amazing Pokémon cards ever printed, where the art is the whole reason a card exists.
